First, remain calm. Passengers are more important than vehicles, so make sure to check if any injuries have occurred. Get help as soon as you can and request medical assistance if needed.
Report the accident to the police.
DO NOT leave the accident scene before the police arrive.
Be nice. Everyone is in an uncomfortable situation – so remain respectful of all parties at all times. You don’t want a comment made in the heat of the moment to come back and bite you.
Take down the names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, phone numbers and insurance companies of the individuals involved in the accident. Also make sure to write down the license plate numbers of the vehicles involved.
Also write down the names and phone numbers of any witnesses to the accidents.
Utilize your cell phone to take photographs of the accident scene and of the vehicles involved in the accident.
Never admit fault at the scene. Even if you think you’re at fault.
